Teen Gym is an introduction to the gym environment for older teens/young adults. Correct use of a gym and its equipment is a challenge for anyone and especially for young people fresh to such an environment. The program introduces participants to gym workouts so as to encourage and motivate young people to lead a healthy and active lifestyle.
The program combines gym-based workouts with other types of workouts (for example, yoga, pilates, box fit) so the participants get a full and comprehensive experience of the different types of exercises. Participants will be fully supervised in all group sessions by our experienced fitness instructors.
As well as encouraging an active lifestyle we will also provide nutritional information to help participants reach goals and to encourage and motivate them to have a healthy attitude towards food and nutrition.
Please note: All availing of the program will need to provide evidence of age when signing up. Our medical screening form must be signed off by all participants and where appropriate signed off by a GP before commencement. Participants under the age of 16 will need a Parent/Guardian to sign off on behalf of their child.

In the gym we will explain the correct technique, weight to lift and the right exercise for the body part you are training and how to prevent injuries, while making the workouts fun and enjoyable. Starting the course out we will mainly use the machine weights to increase the participant’s base strength and from this we can progress onto free weights. Abs will always be involved as everyone needs a strong core.
Apart from learning to lift in the gym, the participants will also learn the importance of why we lift in certain ways, i.e. those who want to improve muscle tone, those who want to bulk, those who are strength training, those who are training for a specific sport. We will also encourage the use of food diaries during the course to increase their awareness of the importance of good nutrition.
Age: 15-19 years old (proof of age will be required when signing up).
Times: Wednesdays and Fridays, both at 6 pm. Each session lasts 1 hour.
The next course starts on 27th September and runs for six weeks.
Price: €100 for 6 weeks.
Required: Appropriate clothing and footwear must be worn at all training sessions; eg. Comfortable sports clothing for example tracksuit bottoms, shorts, T-shirt and appropriate soft sole sports footwear are deemed acceptable. Clothing such as jeans, shirts or shoes may not be worn while working out.
